Wilkes-Barre, PA.
It started of like every other
cellular telephone call with one exception, this
one had been one year in the making. Nick "the Captain"
Prokopchak had landed in Philadelphia Saturday afternoon
and was setting a course from India to his home in Northeast
Pennsylvania. He called Kevin McGroarty and invited him to
a local pub to share a drink. After all these two original
members of SE7EN SOUTH had not been together since the
release of the first album : Alblumo Uno, in March of 2006.
Nick said some friends were playing as an acoustic duo at the
bar, and he was eager to see them. McGroarty agreed, but said
it would be late when he could attend. Later that evening
McGroarty received a voice mail from SE7EN SOUTH guitarist
George Stuscavage, that George was in a crowded pub and thinks he
sees Nick "The Captain" on stage playing congas with an guitar
duo who just happen to be (studio bassist on Alblumo Uno Dave
Cupano) and area guitar legend Big "Daddy Dex". Around 11:30
McGroarty arrives and four of the ,Jane Adonizio from the first album
are together in over a year and a half. During the music intermission,
someone had dropped a few quarters in the jukebox and selected
"Jane Adonizio" off the first album, and the four stood looking
at each other as to who was the culprit, turned out to be just one
of those strange dynamics that happens. Drinks, and toasts were
shared and a few short stories, including the upcoming schedule
for Nick "The Captain" who is landing in Bagdad some time in February.
The evening ended on a musical first Guitar George joined the band
for a curtain call of "Tush" by ZZTop. (Only George doesn't know the
words...again . :)
